Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with the chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on Thursday as part of his official visit to Ashgabat.
During the meeting, Amirabdollahian highlighted the incumbent Iranian government’s policy of neighborly ties approach, noting that enhancing relations with Turkmenistan is a priority. He stated that the determination of high-ranking officials of both countries to promote bilateral relations is a valuable asset for the friendly and brotherly relations of the two countries.
The top Iranian diplomat said relations between the two countries are growing based on various commonalities and mutual interests.
He noted that both countries have similar positions and cooperate well in regional and international assemblies besides their bilateral relations in many regional and international issues.
For his part, the chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan said the excellent ties between the two countries during the past thirty years have been positive and envisaged the prospects as bright.
He also reiterated that the capacities of both countries should be implemented to further elevate the ties.
Also during the meeting, the two sides exchanged views about facilitating the interaction between the people of both countries and providing more space for Iranian companies to be more active in Turkmenistan’s economic projects and regional plans in energy and transportation fields.
